COMPTIA Security+ Tutorial: Module 01,Part 05 – Subnetting

The Subnetting is a complex yet important concept to understand thoroughly. Subnetting is about taking an IP address and breaking it down into a group of several addresses.

It is a strategy that divides a single physical network into more than one logical sub networks. An IP address includes a network segment and a host segment. The subnets are designed by accepting the bits from the host part. Later these bits help to assign a number of smaller sub-networks, which are a part of the original network.

Subnetting helps to reduce the load on the major network and ends the network complexities. It is essential when a single network number is to be allocated to numerous segments of Local Area Network.

This concept allows us to create multiple logical networks that exist within the same class of the network.
